CNC Turning Services
Precision shafts, bushings, fittings, and threaded components — live-tooling turning, prototype to production.
Precision Turned Parts, Prototype to Production
IsoCNC provides CNC turning services for rotational components — shafts, pins, bushings, spacers, fittings, and threaded parts — machined to drawing on our own lathes and inspected before shipment. Precision CNC turning holds concentricity and thread fit batch after batch; CNC turned parts are checked before they pack. Live-tooling turning centers let us add flats, cross-holes, keyways, and milled features in the same clamping, so turned parts arrive complete instead of queueing for a second operation on a mill. Prototype quantities through repeat production runs follow the same route: program, first-article check, run, final inspection, export packing.
What We Turn
- Shafts and pins — precision diameters to ground-fit tolerances, grooves, snap-ring features, and threads
- Bushings and spacers — close ID/OD relationships and concentricity, in steel, stainless, bronze, and plastics
- Fittings and connectors — NPT, BSP, and metric threads; hydraulic and pneumatic components with sealing faces
- Knobs, standoffs, and hardware — cosmetic-turned aluminum and stainless with bead blast or anodize
- Sensor and instrument housings — turned bodies with live-tooled flats, cross-holes, and face patterns

Turning with Live Tooling
Parts that are mostly round but need a wrench flat, a cross-hole, a milled slot, or a drilled face pattern are where live-tooling turning pays off. Completing the part in one clamping keeps every milled feature true to the turned axis and removes a milling setup from your cost. For parts that are mostly prismatic with some turned features, we route across CNC milling instead — the drawing decides the process, not the machine schedule.
Bar-Fed and Chucking Work
Shafts, pins, and fittings cut from bar run bar-fed, which keeps cycle times — and per-piece pricing — down on repeat orders. Larger diameters and sawn-blank parts run in chucking mode with soft jaws bored to the part, so finish surfaces are not marked and concentricity between clamping and cutting diameters is preserved. Tell us your annual volume on the RFQ and we will quote the route that fits it.
When a Part Belongs on a Swiss Lathe
Small, slender, high-volume turned parts — pins and fittings under 1.25 in (32 mm) diameter with high length-to-diameter ratios — often belong on Swiss-type machines, where a guide bushing supports the bar right at the cut. If your RFQ fits that profile, we quote it on our Swiss CNC machining capacity rather than forcing it onto a conventional lathe; you will see the difference in both price and straightness.
Tolerances and Surface Finish
Turned diameters hold ±0.005 in (±0.13 mm) as standard; precision bores and bearing seats to ±0.001 in (±0.025 mm) and tighter are quoted against the drawing. Concentricity between features is controlled by single-setup machining wherever the geometry allows, and critical diameters are verified with calibrated micrometers and bore gauges. See our tolerance standards.
As-turned finishes are typically Ra 3.2 µm (125 µin) or better; polished, ground, plated, anodized, or passivated finishes are available — specify on the drawing and we quote the part complete.

Materials We Turn
Aluminum (6061, 7075), brass C360, copper, stainless steel (303, 304, 316L), carbon and alloy steels (1215, 4140), titanium, and engineering plastics including Delrin, PEEK, nylon, and PTFE. Free-machining grades like 303 stainless and C360 brass run fastest at the spindle; if your design allows either, the quote will reflect it. Full list on the materials page. Small copper and brass parts are a specialty — general small turned parts (pins, terminals, fittings, bushings) run in batch production on compact CNC lathes, standard ±0.13 mm, precision features to ±0.025 mm against the drawing. See small copper and brass turned parts.
What Moves the Cost on Turned Parts
- Length-to-diameter ratio — slender shafts need steady rests and slower feeds; note functional straightness requirements
- Tight bore tolerances — honed or ground IDs cost more than bored; tighten only where the fit demands it
- Thread callouts — standard threads with clear class and depth tap quickly; special pitches need quoting
- Bar stock vs. sawn blank — parts near standard bar sizes waste less material and quote lower
Every order includes dimensional inspection before packing — see quality inspection.
